Infertility is the failure to conceive after 1 year of unprotected intercourse.

According to Ayurveda there are 4 factors required for conception.

Male Infertility

Common Causes:

  • Semen deformities.
  • Oligospermia less than 15 min.
  • Asthenospermia mortility less than 40%.
  • Teratospermia more than 4% abnormal sperm.
  • Azoospermia zero sperm count.
  • Aspermia complete lack of semen.
  • Increased viscosity.
  • Thin semen.
  • Semen in the urine.
  • Increase ph.

Functional causes:

  • Erectile dysfunction.
  • Premature ejaculation.
  • Delayed or impaired ejaculation.
  • Retrograde ejaculation.
  • Loss of libido.

Disease causes infertility:

  • Vericocele.
  • orchitis.
  • Urinary track infection.
  • Urine strictures.
  • Mumps, T.B., Diabetes, and Sexual transmitted disease history.
  • Injury to genital organ.

Medication causes infertility:

  • Blood pressure medicine.
  • Psychiatric medicine.
  • Radiation therapy.
  • Diabetes medicine.

Female Infertility

Quality menstrual cycle. It should be regular. Should not be clots, pain. There should not be white discharge. Colour must be fresh red. There should not be any smell.


Uterus, fallopian tube, ovary must be healthy. There should not any abnormality like Tubal block, adenomyosis, uterine fibroid, ovarian cyst, chocolate cyst, endometriosis, PCOD/PCOS etc.


Nutrition to uterus. Ayurveda has given the beautiful example. Uterus is like land. If land is fertile then seed can grow easily. But if land is not fertile then there are no chances to grow the tree. Same as uterus should have good nutrition. Endometrium thickness should be 7 to 8mm.


Beej means good quality of ovum. At the time of ovulation intercourse should be perform.

Causes for Infertility:

  • Any pathological condition as described in the kshetra point.
  • Irregular Menstrual Cycle.
  • Excessive menstruation.
  • Severe white discharge.
  • Urinary track infection.
  • Ovulation deformities.
  • Thin endometrium.
  • Hormonal imbalance like increased prolactin.
  • Thyroid.

  • Diabetes medicine.

it is like the medicated Enema. According Ayurveda all gynaecological disorders are comes under imbalance of vata dosha. And large intestine is root of the vata dosha. Basti is useful to balance the vata dosha. Ultimately it is helpful to cure the gynaecological issues.

Uttar Basti

The Administration of medicated Oil/Ghee/Decoction through Vagina/Urethra is called as Uttar basti.
It is helpful to develop the endometrium for the conception and it also cleans the toxins from the uterine cavity.
